MEGADETH Drummer Undergoes Surgery

November 23, 2005

MEGADETH drummer Shawn Drover (also in EIDOLON) has posted the following message in the "Forums" section of the band's official web site:

"I returned home from Toronto a few days ago, in which Glen [Drover, MEGADETH/EIDOLON guitarist] and myself attended the Toronto Music Expo. It was nice to see the droogs who did attend this event, as well as seeing my Canadian Pearl Drums rep, 'Redge', who was at the show helping Flo Mournier (CRYPTOPSY drummer) who had a drum seminar at the show. For those who are not aware of Flo's drumming, this dude is one of the sickest, fastest death metal drummers on planet earth (in my humble opinion) Anyways, it was cool talking to him for a bit as well.

"Yesterday, I had surgery performed on my right knee (I had 'Synovial Plica Syndrome' thus, having my Plica removed, as well as some 'tissue-removal'). This is something I pretty much kept under wraps from just about everybody during the course of the entire world tour (even my bandmates, for the most part) as this was not something I wanted to dwell upon or focus too much attention on, knowing that I could not take care of my knee in proper fashion until the world tour was over. I did receive several cortizone shots between tours to deal with the pain, which did work to some degree. The good news is that the surgery was a complete success and for the first time in many years, I will be in much better health!!! I should be 100% in a few weeks. Other than that, I am enjoying the rest of the week with my family celebrating Thanksgiving, to which I have so much to be thankfull for!!!!"
